Soil pH is the most important characteristics of soil which not only influences the efficiency of nutrients but also controls the enzymatic and microbial soil activities.
pH affect the solubility of many soil compounds like- phosphates, carbonates, silicates, magnesium oxides and iron. Most plants including flowers, vegetables, trees etc needs pH from 7 to 6 for proper growth. Based on pH, soil can be classified into the different forms shown below-
Types of Soil
Very weak acidic
Very weak alkaline
Elemental sulphur is very helpful in lowering the soil pH. Factors helps in determining the amount of sulphur required to lower the soil pH, may include- soil type, initial soil pH, favorite pH etc.
