The abundant quantity of sulphur/sulphur, is found in the crust of earth. The very first method of producing sulphur was named as 'Sicilian process' which included the stacking of sulphur deposits in brick kilns and igniting of sulphur after spreading it over stacked ore. This way, the free sulphur was melted. Although, this mining was so labor intensive. Later this traditional process was replaced with Frasch process which included the extraction of sulphur from underground deposits with help of steel tube. Due to the expensive processing, limited number of deposits, this process was replaced with recovery process in the late 20th century. Last Fresch mine was closed in year 2000 in United States.
