Copper Ore Extraction
Copper is extracted through the processes either mining or leaching. Traditional mining also divide into two categories- underground and open pit. Underground mining uses vertical shaft to a suitable depth into the earth and then running tunnel into the ore. Open pit mining is performed by removing the surface layer to quarry the copper ore near it. Open pit mining is used for 90% of ore mining.
Another method which is used to extract copper from its ore is called Leaching. It is easier and energy saving method in comparison of traditional mining. Also there’s no wastage of gases in this process. Leaching can be performed even on ores with smallest amount of copper like 0.1%.
