Slated sulphur is a form of sulphur which is produced by using slating process or technology. This technology was developed in order to convert molten sulphur into solid form which is easy to handle. This is a high volume method with low cost.
In this method, molten sulphur is poured on slowly moving slating belt. This molten sulphur is cooled and solidified, on slating belt. Cooling is done with immersion in water and air cooling.
The solidified sulphur is a slab of average thickness- 3 to 5mm, which is broken in pieces, when separated from the belt. These pieces have sharp edged and irregular shape.
